Don't ever cancel your lease here. They will say you're ok and you don't have to worry about anything and then they will proceed to send you to collections without notifying you prior of paying them instead. And send you to a very malicious collector. I would have happily just paid them for any wrongdoing and were very upfront about our willingness to pay fees including termination. Normally I'd say the staff is very transparent, but this situation was given to us with no warning, and now with a pricy bill to pay collections and already being short on money due to inflation and struggling to succeed in a struggling economy on our own. They showed us they don't really care for tenants or former tenants and will do anything to make sure you are in the dark about your termination. Would have at least appreciated an email warning me to pay them, or one stating that they were sending us to collections. Ethically I think this is very messed up and unprofessional. If you don't plan on cancelling a lease with them anytime soon then I'd say its ok if you're willing to deal with poor quality apartments that many have had problems with bed begs, paying for laundry, people stealing your property and screaming at you through the door, and if you are staying here be prepared to get screwed over no matter your financial situation or the terms you agreed to verbally.
